Facts About Adipex - February 26th, 2010

Adipex has long been used as the ultimate diet pill, the ideal, the most powerful option you have available to you. Yes, there are other options with fewer side effects and problems. But why not take the risk and go for the gold, right? Or at least that seems to be the mentality of many who take Adipex. The reality is that Adipex is a lot of things. It is the highest amount used of Phentermine at 37.5mg and it’s produced by Gate Pharmaceuticals. But how does it work really?

In 1957, Phentermine as a prescription was officially approved, and not long after, Adipex was introduced. In 1957, they did all of their clinical trials, and they found Phentermine, in even smaller amounts and certainly in the 37.5mg to be effective. It acts as an anorectic amphetamine, stimulating the central nervous system and by doing that, suppressing appetite to help you to lose more weight in combination with diet and exercise. However one should keep in mind that despite all the advances in science since, they have not done any studies since 1957.

This being said, it has continued to be true that the prescription Adipex has been effective. It typically works for a few weeks at a time. It helps you to actively suppress appetite during that time. And due to its amphetamine classification and as a controlled substance, some would say that there are other benefits as well.

With this in mind, after a few short weeks, unfortunately it happens that Adipex suddenly stops working, quite abruptly for many. This results in unhappy consumers to say the least, who then have to stop taking the product. But interestingly enough, some continue to take it again later on. So the question is, should it be that appealing or do people just think it’s their only hope?

As an amphetamine, Phentermine and Adipex have obviously been associated with addiction and dependency, even though in some cases when Adipex stops working, the patient suddenly gains excessive amounts of weight quite quickly. However, other side effects have been known to include bad taste in the mouth, changes in sex drive, constipation, diarrhea, difficulty sleeping, dizziness, dry mouth, exaggerated sense of wellbeing, euphoria, headache, impotence, nervousness, overstimulation, restlessness, sleeplessness, and upset stomach in mild and common cases.

In more extreme cases, Adipex has been known to cause rash, hives, difficulty breathing, tightness in the chest, swelling in the mouth, face lips, or tongue, bizarre behavior, psychosis, chest pain, fainting, fast heartbeat, pounding in the chest, shortness of breath, swelling of the legs and feet, tremor, and even heart disease.

So obviously, Adipex is nothing to take lightly. You should not take Adipex without taking into consideration the serious possible side effects as compared to the fairly limited benefits to say the least. So I for one would recommend that you find an alternative, and though you have to be careful about which one you choose, there are plenty out there.
